Unified IT management is the industry’s answer to that fragmentation, and it’s a genuinely useful category to understand. But “unified” gets used two different ways depending on who’s selling it, and the difference matters for what you actually buy.

For an MSP with an entrenched Autotask, ConnectWise, or HaloPSA setup, that’s a heavy, risky lift to make for the promise of “unified.”
The AI-layer model takes a different bet: instead of replacing your stack, an AI system reads and writes across the tools you already run, so the unification happens at the level of action, not infrastructure.
Email comes in, AI classifies and routes it, executes the routine work directly against Microsoft 365, and writes the outcome back to your existing PSA.
Nothing about your technicians’ day-to-day tools changes. What changes is how much of the work between “ticket arrives” and “ticket resolved” still needs a human.
Both are legitimately “unified IT management.” The platform model unifies where your data lives. The AI-layer model unifies what gets done across the systems you already trust.
